Leonard W. J. Harris was born on 19 Mat 1916 in Brondesbury, London
He trained at Gaumont-British and Gainsborough studios, and served with the Army Kinematograph Service during World War II. Then after working as a freelance cameraman was signed by Hammer in 1952. In 1962, after 10 years with Hammer, and 55 production credits, he moved on to Shepperton Studios.
Len Harris died in London on 21 February 1995, he was 78.
