Molly Irene Frances Weeks was born on 19 December 1908 in Oxfordshire, England.
She joined Hammer in 1952 and remained with the company until they left Bray Studios in November 1966. Among the most notable costumes she designed were the spacesuit worn by the doomed astronaut Victor Carrion in The Quatermass Xperiment, the lengthy black coat worn by Christopher Lee’s Creature in The Curse of Frankenstein and Dracula’s cape.
Molly was the sister of Hammer production Manager, Don Weeks. She was previously married to Royal Navy Lieutenant Archibald Hugh Gough Arbuthnot from 1935 to 1954.
Molly Arbuthnot died in Surrey, England on 31 October 2001, she was 92.
